planting instructions

  1. REMOVE THE PLANT FROM THE FIBER CONTAINER! The container is made of 100%  of post-consumer recycled materials and is not biodegradable. You may have to take a blade or scissors and cut the pouch off. Gently separate roots from the pouch. See our video on this page.

  2. Dig the hole a little wider and a little deeper than the root ball. Do not amend the soil as the tree needs to get used to the soil of their forever home! 

  3. Plant the tree at the same depth as it is planted in the pot. No need to go deeper or more shallow. 

  4. Water 3-5 gallons when you plant. Just as much as the soil will absorb, slowly. 

  5. Adding a thick (6in) wood chip (or other organic material) mulch layer ring around the planting area will help regulate soil temp and hold moisture. Material like wood chips also break down and, as they do, help build the soil community.

  6. We recommend checking your newly planted trees at least once a week until they go dormant to see if you need to water again. The soil should be moist but not so wet that, if you squeeze the soil, water runs down your hand.
